Recently the Year 5/6 students have completed a health topic called 'Positive Puberty'. We would like to hear from parents about how this topic went. Please complete this short survey, if you have a child in Arrowsmith - Year 5/6. It would be great if you could do this by the end of the term. Many thanks, from the Arrowsmith teachers.

Due to the emergency in central Ashburton this morning, Tinwald School is on lock down.
All children are inside and safe. Children will be released to parents only! Please be here to pick your children up at 3pm. Children will not be able to walk home on own. Bus children to be confirmed. There will be no Kapahaka practice. The Skip-a-thon has been postponed. Last week, we held a special mufti day for one of our students. It all started when Jack from R6 wrote to Mr Livingstone and asked if Tinwald School could do something special for his friend Thomas. We all gathered in the hall for a special assembly, where members of the Ashburton Kidney Society were there to present Thomas with an iPad to use to keep in contact with school when he is away. We also were able to give Thomas' family over $800 that was raised from the mufti day. Well done Tinwald School! Of course, Mr Livingstone managed to think of a way to make it a fun day... he invented the 'Tinwald School kidney bean eating challenge.' Each class nominated one boy and one girl to compete against others from their syndicate for the title. Year 1/2 champion - Elizabeth Year 3/4 champion - Leigha Year 5/6 champion - Cory Check out some photos: On Tuesday, Todd, Abbey, Lucan, Matthew, Ben and Tamaki went up to Christchurch to attend the National Young Leaders Day. They had a great day at the Airforce Museum listening to inspirational people talk about how they have overcome challenges and become leaders in the community. The theme was 3D - DREAM, DARE, DEVELOP. Some of the speakers they knew like Jason Gunn, others were people who had disabilities or had worked with youth. They enjoyed the packed audience - it was a sell out. They also liked how there were video clips, competitions, and a chance to ask questions.
Here are some of the messages they got from the speakers:
We would like to thank the Tinwald School PTA for supporting this event. |
