Harakeke (Room 11) and Kawakawa (Room 1) hosted a great celebration assembly this week. They both presented learning from this term. Kawakawa sang a lovely waiata - Maori action song and Harakeke shared some mixed-media art and a video from the recent Arrowsmith Mt Hutt Retreat Camp. The School Leaders, Jack and TC, were presented their badges along with the Student Council. Well done to everyone who received an award such as an MVP or classroom learning certificate. Today, the whole school met together for a special assembly to officially open the new Taylor classrooms. There were lots of invited guests including members of our BOT, builders and Jo Goodhew, our Ashburton National Party member. There were speeches, a ribbon cutting and cake for everyone! The Hutt syndicate children competed in a duathlon last week at school. They worked in teams or as individuals to run and cycle around a course on the school field. Well done to all the children who took part. It was really great seeing everyone do their Tinwald BEST. Your child can learn to play an instrument at Tinwald School through MUSIQHUB. MUSIQHUB is New Zealand's premier music education provider. John Willers and his team of teachers visit Tinwald School each week to take lessons. Please contact John for more information. (See below)
Today we announced who our School Leaders for 2015 will be. Congratulations to TC and Jack who were voted in by the Year 5/6 students during camp last week. They are going to have a busy but rewarding final year at Tinwald School as our School Leaders and we know they are going to do an awesome job.
