During the last week of Term 1, we elected our House Leaders for 2015. Each of the potential leaders had to organise a game or activity for a group of students from their house before introducing themselves to everyone in their house and explaining why they would be a great leaders. It was a really tough decision in all of the houses but we would like to congratulate these people: Yellow - Harland House ~ Captain Mya and Vice Captain Matthew P Blue - Graham House ~ Captain Amy and Vice Captain Jack J Red - Jane House ~ Captain Alex and Vice Captain Ben Green - Thomson House ~ Captain Mackenzie and Vice Captain Milly Harakeke (Room 11) and Kawakawa (Room 1) hosted a great celebration assembly this week. They both presented learning from this term. Kawakawa sang a lovely waiata - Maori action song and Harakeke shared some mixed-media art and a video from the recent Arrowsmith Mt Hutt Retreat Camp. The School Leaders, Jack and TC, were presented their badges along with the Student Council. Well done to everyone who received an award such as an MVP or classroom learning certificate. Today, the whole school met together for a special assembly to officially open the new Taylor classrooms. There were lots of invited guests including members of our BOT, builders and Jo Goodhew, our Ashburton National Party member. There were speeches, a ribbon cutting and cake for everyone! The Hutt syndicate children competed in a duathlon last week at school. They worked in teams or as individuals to run and cycle around a course on the school field. Well done to all the children who took part. It was really great seeing everyone do their Tinwald BEST. Your child can learn to play an instrument at Tinwald School through MUSIQHUB.
