Tinwald School has:
Tinwald School is a contributing Primary School (Year 0-6) with a current grading roll of 243. We have a principal, eleven full time teachers, four part time teachers, one full time secretary, seven part time support staff working with learning support students and in the library, a part time sport co-ordinator, caretaker and part time cleaning staff.
Tinwald School is located in the Tinwald Township at the southern end of Ashburton, a town with a population of approximately 16,000. The school has access to the Tinwald Domain which has an outdoor pool, and areas suitable for cross country and triathalon events.
The school covers 2.3 hectares, consisting of teaching blocks, a library, an administration building, a staff room, a caretakers workshop, and a dental clinic.
The school grounds consist of two large asphalt areas, two adventure playgrounds, and a large grassed field which is well maintained and in excellent condition. The majority of our families class themselves as New Zealanders of European descent. We also have Maori families, and families from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Fiji, and England. We are a middle socio-economic group with a significant group of parents working full or part time. The support of our parents is outstanding with plenty of parents being actively involved in supporting school events. We also have many keen parents involved in our Board of Trustees and PTA Team
