Cantamaths champions

17/8/2015

Taylor and Arrowsmith children joined together on Friday for our annual Cantamaths Maths Week competition.  Cantamaths is a problem solving challenge in house teams.  It is a race to answer the 15 questions correctly the quickest.  This year, we had a tie for first place between a Yellow and Blue house team.  Both of these teams answered all 15 questions correctly.  These children have won a $5 lunch voucher to spend on either Sims or Subway - congratulations!

Connected learning sharing

30/6/2015

Last Friday, our whole school met to share our learning with each other from  Connected Learning in Term 2.  The whole school had been exploring our native plants and animals identity.  There were lots of different ways to show learning on display from music to art to craft to dioramas to writing to raps.  Check out some photos from the sharing:

We would like your feedback to help us review and strengthen our curriculum.  Please complete this short questionnaire and return to your child's teacher.  This also went home last week in the newsletter on a blue A4 page.  Thank you.

Young leaders

12/5/2015

Seven of our awesome Year 6 leaders spent the day in Christchurch today at the National Young Leaders day event.  They listened to a range of motivational speakers about their experiences in life and listened out for tips and tricks that they can use to be the best leaders they can.  We look forward to hearing about what they learnt and seeing them put the messages into action!  Thank you to the parents who took them to Christchurch and to the Tinwald School PTA for buying the tickets.

Fundraiser for nepal

7/5/2015

Wow Tinwald School were amazing today - we raised $688 from our coin trail and BBQ.  Well done to everyone who donated.

ANZAC assembly

25/4/2015

On Friday, our whole school came together to commemorate ANZAC day in NZ.  It was 100 years ago this year that the ANZAC soldiers landed at Gallipoli.  We had 2 former students from Tinwald School speak to us because they are in the Ashburton Cadets.  They spoke about what the day means for cadets and told us about the jobs they would be doing on ANZAC day.  Mr Livingstone read 'The Ode' and we listened to the Last Post and Reveille while the flag was lowered and raised again.  Each class also spoke about 2 soldiers from around our area who had gone to war but never returned home.
We will remember them.
