We will remember them.
On Friday, our whole school came together to commemorate ANZAC day in NZ. It was 100 years ago this year that the ANZAC soldiers landed at Gallipoli. We had 2 former students from Tinwald School speak to us because they are in the Ashburton Cadets. They spoke about what the day means for cadets and told us about the jobs they would be doing on ANZAC day. Mr Livingstone read 'The Ode' and we listened to the Last Post and Reveille while the flag was lowered and raised again. Each class also spoke about 2 soldiers from around our area who had gone to war but never returned home. We will remember them. During the last week of Term 1, we elected our House Leaders for 2015. Each of the potential leaders had to organise a game or activity for a group of students from their house before introducing themselves to everyone in their house and explaining why they would be a great leaders. It was a really tough decision in all of the houses but we would like to congratulate these people: Yellow - Harland House ~ Captain Mya and Vice Captain Matthew P Blue - Graham House ~ Captain Amy and Vice Captain Jack J Red - Jane House ~ Captain Alex and Vice Captain Ben Green - Thomson House ~ Captain Mackenzie and Vice Captain Milly |
